It was difficult for me to find a tree in situ that was easy to photograph. So, settled for this small Rimu in a park. The second pic is that of a tree labeled the big Rimu in a very remote location on the north end of the South Island. The reason this tree escaped the logger’s axe was the very remote location. Thought to be about 1000 yrs old. It stands at 130′ more or less and has a girth of 7-8′. Only the bottom half of the tree is visible, the rest is above the forest canopy. Impressive!
Podocarpaceae
Grows up to 120′ with a 7-8′ diameter. Tree was heavily logged by early settlers for use in residential construction. Commonly called the Black Pine.
Monterey cypress Native to Monterey peninsula Cal. Found in Aus arboretums under Hesperocyparis macrocarpa.
Korean/Chinese Dogwood
Kousa grows well in southeast. Flowers later than Cornus Florida thus extending bloom.
Not subject to powdery mildew! Full sun to part shade in N. Ga.
Cornus kousa Var. angustata is an evergreen variety. Empress of China?

Socotra Dragon Blood Tree Native to Yemen
Dragon blood tree is growing on an island near Yemen. The name derives from the sap color.
Endangered due to habitat loss.
Eastern Joy Lotus Tree Native to Southeastern China Along With Parakmeria yunnanensis
Tree is in Magnoliaea family, but is not as showy as other Magnolia species.
