There are many species of the Wattle tree. The golden Wattle features the colors of Au as displayed on the national flag. It is indigenous to southeastern and southern Au and grows in abundance in this area.

Shares the genus with the Mimosa. Flower is almost identical. Little else known.


This species is indigenous to Thailand, Taiwan, and Korea. Common name is Rain Tree/Monkey Pod Tree. Wood used for carving or furniture making.

Commonly called the Nordman fir/Caucasian fir. Grows to 80′ on average but can be much taller. Native range is Russia, Georgia, Turkey and bordering countries. Prefers acidic soils but can tolerates alkaline conditions. The dark green needles are forward pointing with stomatal bands underneath. The Norman fir companions with Picea spp and grows on Mtn slopes upwards of 2000′ elevation Caucasus Mtns.
This beautiful conifer is tiered and proportional as it reaches upward.


This tree grows in the Cascade range from Northern Calif up into British Columbia, Can. It can be found from sea level to 5000′. In its native range, it grows to 150-200’+. The photo here shows a tree in the public park Queentown, NZ. Grandis is the largest tree in the Abies species.
